There is something beautifully ridiculous about Under The Knife, a Digital Playground series where plastic surgery, marital disappointment, and luxury interiors gather in one room to fight. From the opening, the series screams “serious adult drama” with that now-familiar prestige look: low-key cinematic lighting, slow tense composition, warm-but-dark color grading, and a minimalist atmosphere that feels like Nordic noir, except everyone is dressed for a billionaire fundraiser and nobody has the emotional discipline to keep their pants on. The Mayers look perfect from the outside: Max, played by Mick Blue, is a top plastic surgeon, while Blair, played by Kayley Gunner, is his wife, muse, and walking advertisement. Naturally, perfection lasts about twelve seconds before the whole thing starts leaking secrets.
Summary
The first scene opens inside a mansion, with guests dressed in luxurious suits, dresses, and fur coats. Max Mayer is introduced as the brilliant surgeon who has shaped his wife into the so-called perfect woman, but the evening also brings in Dr. Andre Lemieux, played by Vince Karter, whose presence immediately gives the story a quiet rivalry. There is professional tension, masculine competition, and the strong sense that these surgeons should probably spend less time comparing egos and more time not destroying their personal lives. A day after the party, while Blair reflects on memories of Max’s proposal, Max slips away to his clinic and meets his receptionist Lila, played by Isa Bella, for you’ve guessed it the first sex scene of the series. Their scene is rougher in rhythm but still fairly conservative in content: standard oral, vaginal positions, faster pacing, a few trickier angles, and a facial ending that does the job without reinventing. The only nasty thing is Mick’s signature rimming, while Isa Bella was like a Vienna princess with silverware. The real strength is not the sex itself but the contrast: mansion elegance on one side, office betrayal on the other. Very classy, very toxic, very… if I was retarded, we are watching porn people.
The second episode shifts the attention to Blair, who by turn of events gets in a situation for Andre to be her shoulder for crying. She sobs how Max is never available and starts questioning whether she is enough for him. So yeah basically she bangs someone else because she is bored. In this case, that someone is Andre, who examines her perfect tits in Max’s own clinic. Logically, the scene starts with titty fuck before turning into a rougher encounter than the first, though again still within a fairly traditional lane. Following the logic of every porn series, they are caught by Lila, because apparently door in this clinic are not locked even when a tity examination is being performed. The third and fourth episodes continue the standard porn collapse: another girl gets involved with one of the main characters, the story becomes a full-scale domestic disaster, and the finale gives the audience exactly what it probably expected – Kayley Gunner caught between ex-husband Max and future-husband Andre, ending with a double facial.
Verdict
Under The Knife is not brilliant because of its plot, but which porn series is? The story is repetitive, melodramatic, and at times hilariously predictable: someone cheats, someone complains, someone walks in at the worst possible moment, and then everyone acts surprised, as if this was not clearly scheduled by the production department. But visually, the series is strong. The lighting, mansion setting, clinic interiors, costumes, and restrained camera work all create a polished, expensive atmosphere that sells the “serious drama” illusion nicely. The scenes themselves are solid rather than extraordinary, with Kayley Gunner carrying the emotional and sexual center of the series. In short: plastic surgery may not fix the marriage, but it certainly gives the series a very expensive-looking bodies.
